Where

FOUNDED IN 1941, THE

Ram Island Yacht Club is a family-oriented association

of members who share a mutual enjoyment of boating in a picturesque Noank waterfront setting. Although the club’s small footprint limits its shoreside activities, the club traditionally has promoted sailing and seamanship through a strong junior sailing program which currently features classes and competitive opportunities in Optis, Lasers, and Club 420s. Many of the club’s junior sailors have later achieved great success as collegiate sailors and, as adults, in competitive racing in New England waters and beyond. Junior sailing classes are available not only to children of members but they are open, as well, to non member children who are sponsored by a club member.

The club property consists of a two story club house, a 300’ fixed deep water dock, and several floating docks providing adequate space for sailing program Optis, and members’ dinghies, used for access to their boats in the nearby mooring grid.

Volunteerism is also a hallmark of RIYC as annually, club members commission and decommission the club and, periodically, lend their talents and time to the maintenance and enhancement of the club’s facilities. Additionally, throughout the year, there are several club social functions, all of which are organized and hosted by volunteers.
